Joining & Using the Web App
Do my friends need to download the app to vote?
No. Minimizing friction for your guests is a high priority. When you share a Cohezy link, your friends can open it in their mobile or desktop browser, cast their votes on your polls, and chat with the group without ever visiting the App Store.
Polls & Decisions
What are polls used for?
Polls turn "what does everyone think?" into an actual answer instead of a chat thread nobody wants to scroll back through. Ask your crew any question — where to eat, whose place to meet at, what to bring — and everyone's vote gets recorded in one place.
Date polls are their own thing. When you're still deciding when to get together, a date poll lets everyone vote on the times that work for them. Once the votes are in, the organizer can lock in the winning time with one tap.
How do I create a poll?
While creating an event: choose to plan by poll instead of picking an exact date, and your group votes on the times that work before anything's locked in.
Inside an existing chat or event: tap "Add a poll" to ask your crew anything — a custom question, or another date poll if plans are still up in the air.
What's the difference between the three poll types?
Single Choice — pick one option. Choosing a different one automatically replaces your previous pick.
Multiple Choice — pick as many options as you want, each one independent of the others.
Enthusiasm Score — react to every option with 🔥 Love it, 👍 Sure, 🤷 Indifferent, or 👎 Not for me. Cohezy sorts the options by overall enthusiasm, so the group's real favorite naturally rises to the top.
What to Bring Lists
What's a "What to Bring" list?
A shared list attached to an event where the group can claim items instead of texting back and forth about who's bringing what. You can add more than one list per event — say, one for "Food & Drinks" and another for "Games."
Who can create or add to a list?
Starting the first list on an event is a Planner feature. Once a list exists, adding items and claiming them is open to everyone invited — no upgrade needed to pitch in.
Can more than one person claim the same item?
Yes, for items that need multiple — like "6 folding chairs." Several people can each claim a few until the item is fully covered. Anyone can unclaim their portion later if plans change.
Notifications & Group Chat
How does Cohezy prevent notification spam?
We use Smart Throttling. If a group chat gets busy, Cohezy sends you one notification to let you know there's unread activity, then pauses all future alerts for that chat until you actually open the app or website to catch up.
Why use Cohezy instead of a normal group text?
Group texts are great for banter, but terrible for making decisions. Cohezy pulls the planning out of the chat thread — polls clearly show who voted for what, while chat stays organized and separate from other plans you're juggling with the same people.
Groups & Social Circles
What are groups for?
Groups let you organize your different social circles to make planning easier — separate groups for Family, Friends, Game Night, or a Hiking Club. You can add people to multiple groups.
Nicknames per group: the same contact can go by a different name depending on the group, so you can find and invite people by the relationship you actually know them by.
Optional Calendar Sync
What does Cohezy actually do with my connected calendar?
Finding time: Cohezy scans your calendar's Free/Busy status alongside everyone else's in the group, so it can suggest times when everybody's actually open.
Syncing plans: once a plan is finalized, it's added straight to your calendar automatically, and shows up on your own Cohezy dashboard too.
Can other group members see my private calendar details?
No. Cohezy uses "Blind Scheduling" logic. If you choose to sync your calendar, group members only see whether a time slot is "Free" or "Busy." We never transmit your appointment titles, descriptions, or attendee lists.
I added a friend and we both have calendars connected — why can't Cohezy find our free time together?
Calendar-scanning between two people currently requires both of you to have added each other as contacts. If you added a friend but they haven't added you back yet, Cohezy has no permission to check their calendar, even though yours is fully connected.
What if I don't use Google Calendar?
You can absolutely still use Cohezy to chat, vote, and plan without connecting a calendar. Apple Calendar is fully supported right now through a quick Settings setup — see the step-by-step guide. Microsoft Outlook support is still in development — in the meantime, Outlook users can link a Google "Bridge" account for automatic scheduling.
