calendar_monthCalendar Connection

Connect your calendar here to enable free time scanning — both for finding your own open slots and for seeing overlapping availability across your group. You can connect via Google or Apple Calendar, or disconnect at any time without losing your events.

event_availableConnect Your Google Calendar

Google Calendar connects with a single sign-in. One connection lets Cohezy find your free time and add finalized events straight to your calendar.

How to connect:

  1. In Cohezy, go to Settings → Calendar Connection.
  2. Tap Connect Google Calendar.
  3. Choose your Google account and allow the calendar permissions.
  4. You're back in Cohezy and connected. That's it.

What does Cohezy see?
Cohezy shows your event details on your own dashboard, but other members of your group only ever see whether you're "Free" or "Busy."
group
Already share calendars with family or coworkers? Once connected, turn on Include Shared Calendars in Calendar Connection settings. Cohezy can then use those calendars when finding free time, with no app download needed on their end.
appleConnect Your Apple Calendar

Apple Calendar connects via a secure public iCloud link. It takes about a minute to set up and gives Cohezy the same free/busy visibility it gets from Google — without sharing any of your event details.

How to get your iCloud Calendar link:

  1. Open the Calendar app on your iPhone or Mac.
  2. Tap Calendars at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Tap the Info (ⓘ) button next to the calendar you want to share.
  4. Turn on Public Calendar, then tap Share Link.
  5. Copy the link and paste it into Cohezy under Settings → Calendar Connection → Connect Apple Calendar.
privacy_tip
Is "Public Calendar" safe to turn on?
Yes. Enabling this generates a randomized, unguessable private link — it does not make your calendar searchable online. Cohezy reads your event locations so it can show them on your own dashboard, but these details are never shared with anyone else in your group — other members only ever see whether you're "Free" or "Busy."

On an iPhone? Once your Apple Calendar is connected via link, you'll see an option to Upgrade to Native Device Sync — a separate permission from the link above. This does two things: Cohezy can read your availability directly from your device (no link required, faster, stays in sync automatically), and it also lets Cohezy write finalized events directly onto your calendar — the same "lands on your calendar automatically" behavior Google gets from a single connection.

What does "Allow Full Access" mean?
When you tap Enable Device Sync, your iPhone asks whether Cohezy can have Full Access to your calendar. That's Apple's name for the permission any app needs to read your calendar — there's no read-only option. Here's what Cohezy actually does with it:
  • Finds your free time. Only the start and end times of your events are shared with your groups. Titles, locations, and notes never leave your phone.
  • Adds plans to your calendar. When an event is locked in or you RSVP, it lands on your calendar automatically.
  • Cleans up after itself. If a plan is cancelled, Cohezy removes the event it added. It never edits or deletes anything you created.
You can turn this off anytime in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars → Cohezy.
tuneSearch & Planning Defaults

Tell Cohezy how you typically plan so it gives better suggestions:

  • Default View: Daily, List, or Trip view — whichever fits how you think.
  • Smart Filters: Turn on "Weekends Only" or "Everyone Free" to pre-filter group availability searches.
  • Social Hours: Set your default time range (e.g., 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM) so Cohezy only looks for free time when you actually want to hang out.
dark_modeApp Appearance

Lock the app to Light or Dark mode, or set it to "Auto" to follow your device's system settings.

notifications_activeNotifications

Toggle push notifications for activity alerts (new messages, poll votes, RSVPs) independently from your personal reminder alarms. Silence the social noise without missing your own reminders.
