How to Use Cohezy — Part 3 of 8

Group Chat

Not every hangout starts with a firm date. Group Chat is a lightweight space to figure out whether and when to get together — before you commit to a full event.

forumWhat Is a Group Chat?

A Group Chat is its own standalone thing — separate from a full event. Start one when you want to talk something through with a group before there's a firm plan: "anyone want to do something this weekend?" is a chat, not an event.

Each chat has its own throttled notifications, so a busy back-and-forth doesn't bury you in pings — you'll be notified once for a burst of activity, not once per message.

You're also not limited to one chat per group of people. If you and the same four friends are juggling both a game night and a summer trip, keep them as two separate chats — one for each topic. No more scrolling past vacation planning to find who's actually coming Friday.

how_to_voteChat Polls

Right inside a chat, you can create a poll to get a quick answer from the group. Three styles are available:

  • Multiple Choice — everyone can pick as many options as they like.
  • Single Choice — one pick per person, good for a yes/no or pick-one decision.
  • Ranked — people react to each option (🔥 Love it, 👍 Sure, 🤷 Indifferent, 👎 Not for me), and options sort by overall enthusiasm rather than raw vote count.
visibility Want to see exactly who picked what? Tap "Show Votes" above any poll to reveal each person's individual picks — no need to filter through people one at a time.

If the conversation turns to "when should we do this," you don't have to leave the chat to figure it out. Tap "Date Poll" to scan everyone's availability and turn the best options directly into a poll — see Date Polls for the full picture on how Date Polls work.
