How to Use Cohezy — Part 1 of 8

Getting Started

Everything you need to know to get oriented and set up your social circles.

infoTips as You Go

As you explore the app for the first time, you'll notice light blue information banners at the top of certain screens. These give you quick, contextual tips for the page you're on.

Once you've got the hang of it, tap the "X" to permanently dismiss any banner and reclaim your screen space.

dashboardHome Screen Layout

Your home screen has four key areas:

  • Your Dashboard: A unified timeline of everything coming up — Cohezy events, personal reminders, and your synced Google/Apple Calendar, all in one place. Use the Compact / Expanded toggle above the list to switch between a dense, scannable view and a richer one showing location, attendance, and notes at a glance.
  • Create: Your starting points for planning an event. Give it a title, add your people, select a date and time, and if desired ask your crew questions with polls.
  • Start a Chat: Start a group chat so you and the crew can talk about making plans. When you are ready, convert the chat to an event.
  • The Toolbar: Quick access to your groups, personal reminders, and appointments.
psychologySmart Context — We Remember for You

Cohezy learns as you go. If you regularly host "Game Night," just start typing the title and the app will suggest your past locations and poll questions automatically. No re-entering the same details every month.

group_addOrganize Your Social Circles

We recommend creating groups that match how you actually socialize — Family, Game Night Crew, Hiking Buddies — so your invites always go to the right people.

Mix and Match: One person can be in as many groups as you like. Add them once, use them everywhere.

Organizing for Kids: At a kids' party, you often know a parent only as "so-and-so's mom or dad" — not by their actual name. Give a contact a nickname, like "Billy's Mom," scoped to that specific circle, so you can find and invite the right person by the relationship you actually know, even if you never learned (or can't recall) their real name.

lightbulb The more of your friends who connect their Google/Apple Calendars, the more powerful Cohezy gets. You'll be able to find open time automatically instead of sending polls.
publicYour Home Time Zone

Cohezy records a home time zone for you, so traveling doesn't mean doing mental math every time you check your schedule. Even while you're away, event times show up in the time zone you actually live in — not wherever your phone currently thinks it is.

calendar_monthConnecting Your Google/Apple Calendar

Linking your Google/Apple Calendar is what unlocks Cohezy's core scheduling magic. Once connected, Cohezy can automatically scan for times when everyone in a group is free — no polling required.

  • Private by Design: Cohezy reads your calendar's Free/Busy status — and, for your own dashboard, the location of your events. None of this is ever shared with your group; other members only ever see whether you're "Free" or "Busy."
  • Google — one step: A single connection covers both reading your Free/Busy status and writing finalized plans directly onto your calendar.
  • Apple — two steps: Reading Free/Busy status and writing events onto your calendar are two genuinely separate permissions. The first (a shared iCloud link) gets you into group scanning right away. The second (native device calendar access) is what lets Cohezy drop finalized events directly onto your calendar — see Settings & Preferences for both.

Native Apple iCloud calendar support is fully available — see Settings & Preferences for setup. Microsoft Outlook support is in development. Outlook users can still join groups, chat, and vote — or connect via a Google "Bridge" account.

Follow the Red Dot

Red dots throughout the app mean something needs your attention — an unanswered poll, a pending RSVP, or a message you haven't seen. Follow them and they disappear. No red dots means you're all caught up.

notifications_pausedSmart Notification Throttling

Cohezy won't bury your lock screen when a group chat gets busy. We send you one alert to let you know activity is happening, then hold off until you've opened the app to catch up. Your phone stays calm. Once you've caught up and step away again, the cycle starts fresh — the next burst of activity earns its own single alert, same as before.
